Membership is open to any person who upholds the objects of the organization. It costs five dollars a year for an individual. Those funds matter to us, and a large membership speaks for the cause: membership numbers carry weight at annual general meetings, in funding applications, and in front of the municipal and provincial bodies that decide what happens to this watershed.
Every member gets one vote, may attend and speak at any meeting, and is eligible to stand for the board. The membership fee supports our ongoing conservation efforts, and membership itself increases our representation and credibility as an organization.

Donate
Donations of any size go to WRWEO's CanadaHelps page. You choose the amount and whether it is one-time or monthly, and CanadaHelps handles the payment and issues the tax receipt directly. No card details ever touch this website.
Gifts in kind
Lumber, hardware, fuel, tools and equipment are all directly useful. So is professional time — grant writing, accounting, surveying, photography. Write to [email protected] and tell us what you have.
Where the money goes
Two things dominate the budget: keeping the infrastructure standing, and keeping a trained steward on the trail. Both are real costs with real numbers attached, and every one of them is published.

The stewardship program has been supported by the Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust, Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change's Protected Areas and Ecosystems Branch, the Canada Summer Jobs Program, an RBC Community and Sustainability Grant, community fundraisers, and many individual donors. The full amount has not been secured in any year since 2017, so the program runs with reduced coordinator hours and no assistant. That is the gap donations close.
Other ways to take part
Money is the least of what this organization runs on. Every one of these is worth more than a membership fee, and none of them cost anything.
- Volunteer. Work days, parking lot clean-ups, trail counting, and jobs that can be done from a desk.
- Stand for the board. Any member is eligible, and the board is short of directors.
- Send a trail report after your walk.
- Record what you see on iNaturalist.
- Write something for us, or contribute photographs.
- Join an event. Guided nature walks, work days and workshops run through the year.
